Metropia Synergy

An city mobility platform aimed at reducing traffic congestion

Metropia is formed by a group of transportation engineers, network modelers and data scientists developping solutions for urban traffic congestion problems. The solutions include:

  • Metropia Mobile – the app system that incentivizes commuters to choose departure times, routes and modes that help reduce and eliminate traffic congestion. It uses advanced prediction and coordinating technology combined with user rewards to incentivize drivers to cooperate, balance traffic load on the network.
  • Metropia Synergy – the behaviorally-effective, active demand management and data analytics platform that achieves congestion mitigation via a social rewards-based ecosystem.
  • Metropia Dynamics – the back-end server system that coordinates Metropia Mobile, Agency and Corporate Solutions. It is capable of receiving real-time traffic information from multiple sources and predicting traffic conditions, calculating routes and essentially managing all of the subsystem processes to support the front-end services.

While traffic operation centers utilize real-time data to monitor and assess operations, there is value in using real-time data to unveil the hidden patterns of urban traffic dynamics. Prioritize and evaluate strategies to accommodate day-to-day demand and increase system mobility and reliability with Metropia’s insight. The Metropia Synergy platform and its supporting data analytics algorithms provide unique capabilities that can be used for:

  • travel patterns analysis
  • transportation model validation and calibration
  • corridor travel times and speeds
  • mobility and reliability measures
  • driving behavior and safety analysis
  • user-based insurance (UBI)
  • other incentive-based strategies

Metropia’s Urban Analytics Group offers creative and innovative cutting-edge solutions to meet transportation planning and system operations needs.

Urban Analytics Capabilities

  • Integrating Activity Based Models (ABM) with Dynamic Traffic Assignment (DTA)
  • Developing multi-resolution models to provide robust, sophisticated and practical frameworks for transportation system operations analysis
  • Using emerging technologies to collect information on traffic behavior, traveler patterns and mobility/reliability performance measures
  • Applying “Big Data Analytics” to support decision making and planning processes
  • Supporting “Smart and Connected Cities” monitoring including transportation system performance and efficiency
  • Supporting demand and traffic operations management for evacuation planning, incident management and large venue and stadium management
  • Analyzing incentive-based strategies such as User Based Insurance (UBI)
